“World music in daycare”
The Les petites pousses du lac multi-accueil day nursery in Bordeaux (33) has launched the Musique du monde en crèche project. The aim? To bring parents and their children together around musical practices, with the support of music therapist Florence Aubrun.
Project supported by the Fondation Foujita.
Music, a lever for expression and communication
In response to the problems of communication between parents and their children, and the isolation of families, the crèche team decided to find a solution. The workshop was born out of the desire to develop links between parents and their children by adding an artistic and cultural dimension. In this way, for 2 hours a month, children and parents share moments of relaxation and fun helping children to develop their ability to listen, concentrate and express themselves, both in their relationship with their parents and in their relationship with the group.
Over the course of the sessions, the following topics are covered:
- Development and refinement of body awareness, more specifically locating one’s body in space, developing fine perception with the independence of the fingers towards touch and musical expression on the instrument in relation to the parent.
- Voice and vocal expression through nursery rhymes and vocal improvisation
- Development of global and fine motor skills using instruments such as djembes, marimbas, wood-blocks and bells.
- Listening via interiorizing instruments: specific chimes, sanza, etc.
« L’atelier est bien repéré par les familles, nous avons la chance d’avoir des mamans fidèles depuis le début. Ce moment est attendu par les mamans, il permet de créer du lien social ce qui diminue l’isolement et la routine quotidienne. Ce temps convivial suscite un certain engouement auprès d’autres familles qui se rajoutent au projet. »
Auteuil Petite Enfance, preventing difficulties from an early age
In response to the need to prevent difficulties from an early age, Apprentis d’Auteuil, through its subsidiary Auteuil Petite Enfance, is developing facilities dedicated to parents in its day-care centers for very young children. In Bordeaux, the multi-accueil crèche Les petites pousses du lac is primarily intended for the children of single mothers and single parents. Difficult access to childcare, particularly for single-parent families, is a major obstacle to a return to employment. And yet, jobseekers find it hard to get a place in a crèche, making it difficult to find a job. That’s why Les Petites pousses du lac’s opening hours have been adapted to enable parents who work shifted hours to entrust their children to the center, and to promote the professional integration of others.
This unifying experience creates a place of fun, discovery, sharing, transmission, bonding with others – families and professionals alike – and oral expression.
