“In the footsteps of Foujita – a multidisciplinary artist”.
Launched in 2021-2022 to combat school dropout, the Sur les traces de Foujita – artiste pluridisciplinaire project brings together students from various disciplines at the Lycée Saint-Philippe d’Apprentis d’Auteuil in Meudon (92), with the support of Nathalie Chamblas, an engraver and visual artist.
Project supported by the Fondation Foujita.
Artistic and cultural workshops
This project was born of the desire of the educational team to reconcile students with school and learning. In all, over the 2022-2023 period, some 100 participants will be welcomed to the workshops. To stimulate their curiosity, young people are invited to visit Parisian cultural sites – the Louvre, the Maillol and Picasso museums, the Grande Mosquée de Paris and the Quai Branly museum – and to take part in practical art workshops. The youngsters explore various techniques such as watercolor, linoleum and wood engraving, modeling and weaving.
The discovery of these different techniques and the creative proposals that accompany them encourage the persistence of the efforts required of the students. This underscores their ability to concentrate and work on the same production over several sessions.
Depending on the class, the productions or themes varied: for some, the work focused on sewing, with the creation of kimonos, bags or stuffed animals, while others worked on volume.
Pleasure and willingness to work on creative proposals are observed as the sessions progress. The workshop also contributes to a calmer school climate. The trust and freedom of speech that develop over the course of the workshops enable us to discuss personal and school-related issues that can sometimes be a source of tension.
