FOUJITA Auction
On October 10, 2018, a charity auction Hommage à Foujita, benefiting the Fondation Foujita will take place under the renovated ceilings of theHôtel Lutetia with the complicity ofArtcurial, partners of the event.
In this Foujita Year, celebrating fifty years since the death of Léonard Foujita, the Foundation has invited some forty artists, art galleries and collectors to pay tribute to him by creating or donating a work to be sold at the charity auction. The choice of these works highlights the bond between the artists and the Japanese painter: a bond that stems from their shared artistic discipline, their sources of inspiration, their nationality, and for some, their shared history with Foujita.
The starting price for each lot is €1,000.
0% sales charge : given the charitable nature of this sale, no charge will be levied in addition to the auction price.
The funds raised by this sale will be entirely devoted to financing artistic and cultural projects to help young people with educational, social or family difficulties to succeed at school and integrate into society. social or family difficulties, supported by Apprentis d’Auteuil.
“Of all my mother’s friends, Foujita is my favorite. He plays with me for hours,” wrote Gérard Oury, who was close to Foujita, in his Mémoires d’Eléphant in 1988. Danièle Thompson, screenwriter and director, daughter of Gérard Oury, is the patron of this unique event.
This exceptional sale will take place in the Salon Cristal of the Hôtel Lutetia, an emblematic meeting place for personalities from the worlds of literature, art and cinema. The Hotel Lutetia supports this event, which is a continuation of the creative energy that has been present within its walls since its creation in 1910.

As a reminder, the Fondation Foujita, under the aegis of the Apprentis d’Auteuil Foundation, has the mission of promoting and bringing to life the work of Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita (1886-1968) and developing practical artistic projects for young people supported by Apprentis d’Auteuil.
The projects reflect the diversity of Foujita’s talents, but also those of young people. Their encounter with the artist is also a way of taming the art world and becoming enlightened players in it.
In all, over 200 projects have already been financed by the Fondation Foujita, thanks in particular to the artist’s royalties. In 2018, nearly 2,200 young people and families will take part in artistic experiences.
